I Scream,You Scream...You Get the Idea

I On the first day of my exciting new experience,Magda[my aunt],Nabil[her best friend],and I went out for ice cream. We went out for ice cream because Magda wanted to see Nabil and she also wanted to take me to her favorite ice cream place. The small and cute place is called J.P Licks, and it`s located in Harvard Square.

Now since I live really close to Wisconsin,I've had some of the best ice creams known to mankind. But J.P Licks was really good too! The flavor that I decided to enjoy was maple butter walnut.I decided to get that flavor because all of typical flavors are too mainstream and I wanted to try something different. When I took my first bite of this delectable ice cream,I was instantly impressed. The mixture of maple and walnut was a match made in heaven.I would recommend this flavor to anyone and everyone who wants something sweet and delicious.

The atmosphere at J.P. Licks was humorous. I say this because all of the tables were shaped like spots on a cow and the wall was fake grass,so it was like a farm inside of a cafe.I appreciated that they kept everything in theme instead of having random things all over the place. The service in J.P Licks was quite friendly and they looked like they enjoyed their jobs. The employees brought a happy vibe to the place. I enjoyed both ambiance and ice cream.

The second place I went to eat ice cream is called Toscannini`s in Central Square. This was an interesting place because they have truly exotic flavors.I had the goat cheese brownie ice cream. I chose this flavor because it was different and something I wouldn't be able to order back home in Rockford.I enjoyed it,but it didn't live up to its name because there wasn't really that much much brownie in it. The employees had no enthusiasm in there voices when they welcomed us and when they took our order. It also was a little bit fancy for an ice cream place. When I`m eating ice cream,I want a fun, laid back environment.I liked the seating arrangement-- there was a section of couches, a counter facing the windows (where we sat), and a square of tables in the middle of the cafe. I did not like how there was no outside seating. My overall experience was good.

The most recent ice cream place that I ate at was Christina's in Inman Square. We went there because Magda's roommate Anne had just gotten back from visiting New York. So we met for ice cream to talk about her experience in N.Y. Christina's had a huge verity of flavors, but this time I was in the mood for something simpler. I decided to order a scoop of basic strawberry ice cream. It was pretty good, though it would have been better had there been more strawberries in it. The place itself was boring and didn't have a theme like J.P Licks did. When you walk inside, the vibe is dull, dark, and dead-- not exactly the mood you expect at an ice cream place. The service was not very friendly which was disappointing. The man who served us was short with us and seemed like he didn't enjoy his job. The ice cream=good and creamy. The atmosphere=lackluster. I did, however, like that there were some benches outside to eat at.

My overall conclusion about ice cream places in Somerville and Cambridge was that I liked J.P Licks the best.Great ice cream, atmosphere, and service. If I had the chance to go again,I most definitely would.I would also try something different too. Five stars for J.P Licks!

  1. I loved reading about the cool places you're visiting. Do you guys take pictures of the ice cream. I wonder if it looks as delicious as it sounds. Goat cheese brownie ice cream sounds interesting. Was it sour?
